Tucson, Arizona, SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Supervises trades specialists and equipment operation crews in the maintenance and improvement of park facilities and golf course grounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Position Specific Summary The Sport and Field Turf Supervisor at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department schedules the renovation and maintenance of sports fields and related facilities, and supervises staff and vendors. The nature of work includes repair of equipment, specifying and purchasing products and services, and providing professional analysis and recommendations on turf management practices.
Work is performed under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over parks maintenance personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities Inventory and planning (30%) - Essential Reviews and catalogs field/turf conditions, rating of conditions and prescribing of treatment or maintenance plan.
Supervision (25%) - Essential Creates work schedules and prioritizes projects for staff. Confirms completion and performance evaluations of work competencies and necessary training for staff to perform work to a satisfactory level. Approves timecard submissions of unit staff.
Budgeting and forecasting (15%) - Essential Oversees the cost for present and future maintenance needs to maintain and enhance sports field conditions. Presents budget reports of actual and projected financial needs for future projects.
Collaboration (15%) - Essential Works with other department staff to develop annual plan for community use of fields, with consideration of sports user group seasons, turf conditions, weather impacts and seasonal demands. Provides input related to capital projects involving new or rebuilding of sports fields in parks.
Testing and reporting (10%) - Essential Selects fields for testing of soil conditions and piloting biological and maintenance practices for improved turf performance. Applies successful programs system-wide for increased delivery of sports field conditions based on successful testing results.
Other duties as assigned (5%) - Non-Essential Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:
6 months post high school
Work Experience:
Five (5) years of directly related experience
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: 6 months post-high school or a related field.
License/Certifications: Pesticide Applicator License - State of Arizona Minimum Hiring Salary: $29.23
Dependent upon experience, qualifications, and successful completion of any applicable job training**
Full Hourly Range: $29.23 - 50.43 USD
